Amphibian Stage Productions is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 by three alumni of TCU’s Department of Theatre who wanted to extend the range and quality of theater productions in North Texas. The company’s mission is to produce innovative and engaging works of theatre that challenge the way we see the world around us. Dedicated to promoting creative collaborations and networking, Amphibian links its company members living in Fort Worth, New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles, in order to present readings and fully-staged productions in Fort Worth and New York City.
Amphibian Stage Productions is an active part of the Fort Worth theater community with a growing presence in New York City. Since its inception, Amphibian has produced innovative and challenging plays (some were regional premieres; others were US or world premieres). The company is becoming widely recognized for its stylistically and thematically varied scripts, presented in distinctively innovative and visually exciting productions. Amphibian refuses to make safe artistic choices or to be pigeonholed into a particular style, producing realistic works as well as more unusual performance works, which have been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike.
Amphibian’s reputation among theater professionals for its dedication to artistic innovation has enabled them to attract many celebrated guest artists including Laura Anderson Barbata, Sharon Benge, Anne-Lynn Kettles, Tom Pelphrey, Kristine Sutherland, Lenard Petit, Crystal Skillman, Sebastian Stan, among others. Additionally, they have developed a play reading series to showcase and develop projects by emerging and under-produced playwrights.
Amphibian’s many artistic and organizational accomplishments have enabled the company to develop significant community support to attract many distinguished volunteers from Texas and New York to serve on its board of directors.
