When a con-artist who’s hoodwinked the government for years suddenly finds himself under investigation, he must find a way to outwit the authorities by using unsuspecting relatives and neighbors in his tumultuous scheme. Thus lays the groundwork for Theatre Arlington’s newest production, CASH ON DELIVERY, opening June 19.
The show revolves around Eric Swan who, in an effort to make ends meet after losing his job, begins swindling the Social Security office by receiving monthly checks for many fictitious tenants with various disabilities. When a federal agent shows up, Mr. Swan goes into a tailspin taking many of his gullible friends and family with him, while trying to cover up his numerous discrepancies. CASH ON DELIVERY is a typical British farce at its most hilarious; combining all of the slapstick elements about which audience members love to double over in laughter. With the state of the economy being what it is, this is certainly a show with which many people can relate… and who couldn’t use a good laugh these days?
CASH ON DELIVERY runs June 19 – July 19, 2009 with performances on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. (There will not be a performance on July 4, and the performance on Friday, July 3, will begin at 7:30 p.m. instead of 8 p.m., due to the fireworks at the Levitt Pavilion later that evening.)
Thursday, June 18, is Theatre Arlington’s Preview Night. Patrons may purchase tickets for only $5 on a first come, first served basis and view the dress rehearsal at a greatly discounted rate that fits everyone’s budget.
Theatre Arlington is located at 305 W. Main Street in Arlington, TX. Tickets may be
