In 1982, a little underground theater group called the Trinity Players unknowingly began to spin the framework for a long-lived progressive theater. The Trinity Players were an affiliate of the Trinity Arts Council, later to be called the Arts Council of North East Tarrant County. With time the Trinity Players almost had to disband, but then joined a Fort Worth group called A Little Bit of Broadway. The City of Bedford had a building for lease, which happened to be the former cafeteria on the Bedford Boys Ranch. The building was then named the Trinity Arts Theater, since it was affiliated with the Trinity Arts Council at the time. A Little Bit of Broadway moved into that building and the theater group was renamed ONSTAGE. Our first production as ONSTAGE was Alice in Wonderland. It was performed in the theater during our reconstruction. The walls we tore down were our seating platforms. It was a hit and ONSTAGE bloomed. In 1985 ONSTAGE was officially born and, as the Trinity Arts Theater resident drama company, produced a theatrical season of five adult shows and two children’s show that year. Now we produce at least six spectacular regular season shows, we host special events and work with area theater companies to provide entertainment above and beyond our regular season. And in 2013 we will be producing seven season productions and our first-ever Young Actors Workshop! ONSTAGE has experienced tremendous growth in the past few years, with our progressive performances and community-minded atmosphere. We have been recognized many times for our quality of productions throughout the Metroplex. Today, ONSTAGE is very excited about our direction and the possibilities that are opening up to us with each show we produce!
